What Makes a Freightliner Century Class a World Class Leader?
The creation of the original Freightliner Century Class required the largest design effort in the history of Freightliner. This massive project, which began in the early 1990’s, included a three-year design and development period where everything was closely examined down to individual nuts and bolts. The concept behind the original Century Class centered on creating an entirely new family of heavy-duty trucks. Existing products were not even considered as competitors when evaluating new Century Class ideas. They were only used as examples of current state-of-the-art and as a benchmark when Freightliner assessed new technology to push every facet of the vehicle forward.
