What makes a Beowulf cluster special?
Beowulf clusters work on the pricipal of shared resources. Using a *nix operating platform, calculations can be sent from the server to a client that has the available resources to perform the task. Sharing the processors across the cluster makes the process extremely fast, since each processor handles a proportionately smaller part of the overall task.
