All of the models we carry have an automatic self cleaning alert every 12 hours. An LED light blinks until the unit is turned on for use, then the electrodes reverse polarity creating acid water on the alkaline side and visa versa. This cleans off any mineral residue that may have accumulated on the electrodes since the last cleaning. The actual cleaning cycle takes about 30 seconds.
