What made you decide to make a completely new doll? Are you still focusing creative efforts on RealDoll?
After spending many years on Realdoll, and establishing a very competant staff at Abyss, I felt the urge to work on something ‘new’, something different. By designing a doll outside of the ‘Real’ realm, and doing so from the ground up, I was able to think outside of the box on many levels. I was able to consider different materials that would not be available to me with the established Realdoll platform. Many of my ideas required starting over in a sense, thinking ahead from the very beginning stages of the sculpture itself. To retrofit an established mold would be almost impossible. I was also creatively excited to try something new, and what began as a research and development project became an entirely new doll. The new silicone must be cast in an extremely sterile environment, free of the presense of other silicones and various other materials.
