What made us come up with the idea of green ribbon month?
I (Dr Rebecca Edwards) am from the UK and I was in Edinburgh for the final Live8 concert. It was brilliant seeing 50,000 people meeting together peacefully, enjoying music and trying to make a difference for those less fortunate than themselves. Unfortunately the next day as I flew back to London the bombs went off. I was really worried about the increased racial and religious tensions which would ensue and about the problems generally happening all over the world at the moment between different groups. Soon afterwards I returned back to New Zealand where I am currently working. Together with my friends, Keely Kalirai and Jennie Morgan, we came up with the idea of Green Ribbon Month.
