The psychiatrist can be contacted to see if he/she feels hospitalization is indicated and, if so, which hospital he/she would prefer. If the client is not under a psychiatrist’s care but APS is involved, then it would be useful to have the number of the APS caseworker. Usually the APS caseworker is present during the heavy duty cleaning, but in the event he/she is not, it’s a good idea to have the number of the supervisor as it might be necessary for APS to send one of their affiliate psychiatrists to assess the situation. If the client is without a psychiatrist, the names and numbers of family, friends and/or significant others are helpful as they can be contacted for support or backup as needed.
