What lifestyle rules does the community require its members to abide by, i.e., stuff like smoking, drug use, firearms, sexual activity, diet — vegetarian, omnivore — pets, etc.?
First of all, we are tending towards vegetarian diet here. However, we have lots of eggs (obviously), and fish and poultry (not our own) are frequently offered. We are working towards a healthy and organic diet. We have one smoking member right now, who smokes outside, but has made a commitment to quit smoking by September 1st. As of that date, we will be a smoke-free community. As far as drugs go, the only drugs allowed here are by prescription or over-the counter. Part of the reason for this is legal; we don’t want to lose the ranch due to possession or trafficking. Another reason is that a person under the influence of drugs is not going to be able to participate in a rational manner. Pets? You’d think we have enough here to satisfy anyone. However, we probably have room for more. We currently have three cats (two are currently pregnant), and we’re not enjoying the situation. Neutered cats may be accepted, but we are going to have to take each situation as it comes. Sexual activity.
