Each Principal Investigator must have a State of Michigan controlled substance license and a DEA registration for their laboratory address if conducting research, dispensing, administering, or storing controlled substances in their laboratory. Licenses and registrations are site specific. CFR 1301.11 (a) Every person who manufactures, distributes, dispenses, imports, or exports any controlled substance or who proposes to engage in the manufacture, distribution, dispensing, importation or exportation of any controlled substance shall obtain a registration unless exempted by law or pursuant to ยงยง1301.22 through 1301.26. MI 333.7303 (1) A person who manufactures, distributes, prescribes, or dispenses a controlled substance in this state or who proposes to engage in the manufacture, distribution, prescribing, or dispensing of a controlled substance in this state shall obtain a license issued by the administrator in accordance with the rules.
