OpenOffice.org is released by Sun thanks to the StarOffice source code being available under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) as well as the Sun Industry Standards Source License (SISSL). This means that OpenOffice.org is free for use, even if it were commercial usage. Redistributing OpenOffice.org is also allowed under the licensing scheme.
