What level of proficiency in MESAAS languages is required for entry?
There are no minimum MESAAS language requirements for entry to the graduate program. Applicants for the free-standing M.A. can be admitted with no previous language training. The Ph.D. program requires considerable language competence by the end of the first and third years of the program, so we look for evidence of ability in languages. The appropriate level for admission to the program will vary with the course of study and program of research you plan to follow, and can be discussed in advance with the faculty with whom you expect to study.
