The recommendations of the Legionella Working Party, chaired by Associate Professor Christopher Fairley, Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash Medical School, provided the basis of the amendments to the Building Act. The Working Party comprised membership from the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry , the Plumbing Industry Commission, the Municipal Association of Victoria , Local Government, the Australian Institute of Environmental Health , the Victorian WorkCover Authority, the Building Commission and the Property Council of Australia. The Government’s reform strategy has been sent to all representative industry and business organisations and responses received from these sectors supported the strategy. A number of these organisations have provided submissions that enhanced the regulatory framework, and the supporting guidelines and risk management framework.
