What legal requirements are there for maintenance of tanks?

0

There are no legal requirements for maintenance in the regulations but there is guidance in Pollution Prevention Guidance Note 2 Above Ground Oil Storage. OFTEC qualified registered technicians do an annual check on tank installations when they routinely inspect a boiler and they also produce a tank checklist. We expect visual checks to be carried out at least weekly and would encourage tank checks to become part of the routine maintenance schedule. The person with custody of the tank is still required by the regulations to ensure that the container is of sufficient strength and structural integrity that is unlikely to burst or leak in ordinary use.
