What led to Pips emotional growth in Great Expectations?
Pip began the Novel as a timid and passive little boy with a innocent and pure heart. His passive nature was the result of the abusive treatment from his sister who is quite bitter, because she was forced to raise Pip after their parents death. Pip’s kind heart is most likely the result of his sister’s husband, the simple blacksmith – Joe. Joe was not educated, but he was always content with his life and felt lucky to be married to Pip’s sister, and always took great care of Pip. For awhile Joe was Pip’s only advocate, and often told Pip that they “were ever the best of friends.
