What leadership actions buffer employees from system level stress?
I’ve written a piece on France Télécom’s experience of extreme employee stress. (http://www.workengagement.com/myblog/5-opa/76-a-lesson-from-france-telecom). My view is that employees’ despair results from a misalignment of levels. In making organizational adjustments to strains encountered in a volatile business environment, the company transfers its corporate stress onto individuals. It’s too big for individuals to handle. What are some leadership strategies available to management to buffer employees during times of major transition? Any examples would be appreciated.
