After striking out at two other sites, scientists knew that they were successful in finding the actual remains of George Washington’s childhood home, Ferry Farm, by comparing the remains to written records of the home and by dating the thousands of artifacts they unearthed. Thank goodness Washington was a man who kept records and wrote letters, as these kinds of things were used to document and prove the heritage of this particular land.
