What laptop processor is best for conserving battery power?

I am looking to buy a laptop with a 17″ screen, so guessing that I need a laptop that will be kind to battery life. Please can you tell me what is the difference between the different processors available (Intel Core 2 Duo, Turion, etc, etc), which one is best for battery life, and the one you would recommend I go for. Any extra info you think would be useful on my choice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
