Classical Chinese. Imperial China didn’t have anything you would call a constitution, so the first Chinese constitution was the Provisional Constitution of the Republic of China, adopted in 1912 after the Emperor was overthrown. It was written in Classical Chinese, which doesn’t correspond to any currently spoken language. Classical Chinese was roughly based on the way Chinese was spoken thousands of years ago, but it continued to exist as a written-only language that was quite different from the words people used when speaking.
