What language do they speak in New Zealand?
It’s English with a distinct, New Zealand accent. It derives from British English, but has developed into a fairly regional way of speaking. The grammar is just like the grammar of British English, but the pronunciation reminds many of the way people from South Africa speak. Vowels like “e” and “i” are pronounced very strongly. And yes, it can remind some of Australian English, but it tends to be calmer, and a bit more cautious and reserved.
