• Pouch Film – two sheets of plastics film (with an adhesive on the inside of each sheet) are pre-sealed on one side/edge to create a pocket or “pouch” designed such that the document/media to be laminated can be slipped in the pouch, inserted into a desktop “pouch laminator”, such that the item being laminated is effectively “encapsulated”. This film is available in many standard sizes (e.g. A4, A3), in thicknesses from 80 micron up to 250 micron, and typically supplied flat in boxed quantities of 100. Pouch film is most commonly and economically made from polyester which has a heat-activated glue on the inside, but can also be supplied as a “cold” pouch, usually PVC with an acrylic adhesive which requires the pressure of the laminator rollers, but no heat, to effectively laminate. • Polyester “Hot”/Thermal Roll Film – typically used in “encapsulation” lamination, these polyester films have a heat-activated polyethylene-type adhesive which melts at temperatures between 90oC and 140oC
