Biowaste consists of biological material capable of self-replication and harm to other living organisms or material potentially harmful, or perceived as harmful by the public. This includes tissue cultures, bacteria, viruses, parasites, molds, fungi, biological toxins, allergens, recombinant DNA products, artificial blood, and/or laboratory media and instruments potentially contaminated with biological material.
