What lab work is offered?
Your midwife will give you informed consent for all lab work and procedures that are offered. She will discuss the pros and cons of each test, you may consent, or decline, any of the tests offered. Tests that are offered: Initial lab work: Complete blood count (CBC), blood type and Rh factor, rubella titer, syphilis screen, hepatitis titer, and HIV. Chlamydia and gonorrhea screening are also offered. 20 weeks: Ultrasound Evaluation 28 weeks: Gestational glucose Screen to screen for gestational diabetes and CBC. 36-37 weeks: Group B Strep Culture and CBC, as indicated. Additional lab work will be offered if medically indicated throughout your pregnancy, and will be discussed with you at that time. Two newborn metabolic screening tests will be offered to the infant with the first 72 hours after birth and at 2 weeks postpartum.
