What kinds of weapons did they use in the Civil War?
They used firearms in the Civil War and the kind of firearm depended on who was using it. Infantry used (that is soldiers who walked) used rifles. Soldiers on horseback, called cavalry, used carbines (short barelled rifles), pistols, and swords. And the artillery and those that operated on the river used cannons and muzzle loading iron guns.
