What kinds of trees are planted?
A wide range of different kinds of trees are planted by the JNF in Israel. Some of them are trees that are mentioned in the Bible like Cypress, Firs, Pines, Olives and other fruit trees, others are varieties that have been found to thrive in this land. Some are fast growing, others take years to mature but live for centuries. For more information about the trees talked of in the scriptures, see the Trees in the Bible section. 6. Where will my tree be planted? KKL/JNF plants trees on public land especially set aside by the State of Israel. New forests are currently being planted in the mountains of the Galilee, in the Negev desert, and in parklands of towns and cities as part of Israel’s urban beautification program. On the Israel’s Forest’s Overview page you can see a map of all Israel’s forests.
