What kinds of students typically apply to the IDS program?
There is considerable diversity among those who apply and enter our program. We see Canadian students, those born in other OECD countries and students from all parts of the developing world. Almost all applicants already have traveled, worked internationally or volunteered for development-based NGOs. Most entrants share one or more of three goals: mid-career education and training for those already in the development field, the acquisition of specific knowledge in order to enter the field and a more conceptual commitment to improve their understanding of the sources of international inequality, the nature of development process and strategies for change.
