What Kinds of Spider Vein Removal Techniques Are Available?

Light-based therapies use either lasers or intense pulse light systems (IPL); whereas, sclerotherapy uses needles to inject a potent medicine directly into the spider veins. The surgical method of direct cautery and transaction; for example, can cause scars; electrosurgery, which uses an electric current provided by a needle, is painful and therefore not suitable for large vein clusters.
As to the choice between light based treatment and sclerotherapy, the former is safer and yields better cosmetic outcome for facial veins; whereas the latter, sclerotherapy, is the best choice for leg spider vein treatment. Unlike facial veins, leg spider veins come in different sizes, colors, and are at different depths within the tissue; characteristics that are not suited to laser treatment.
