Commercial, real estate and political signs are prohibited on roads. State law (Virginia Code §33.1-373) prohibits any writing, printing, picture, painting, display emblem, drawing or sign on any rock, stone, tree, fence, stump, pole, mile-board, milestone, danger-sign, guide-sign, guidepost, highway sign, historical maker, building or other object with the limits of any highway.
