What kinds of research are done at MIHS?
Clinical trials that provide evidence that new medicines, devices, or treatment protocols benefit patient health outcomes as compared to current standard practice. These studies are sponsored by drug and device manufacturers (Industry), the federal government (e.g., National Institutes of Health) or not-for-profit agencies. Evidence based medicine reviews of patient treatment, diagnosis, and care that examine the quality of and efficiency of treatment. These studies are often implemented by the residents as part of their training program to ensure that they are trained in the process of systematically finding, appraising, and using contemporaneous research findings as the basis for clinical decisions. These are not funded by outside agencies. Collaborative research projects with research partnerships and alliances with major institutions that support the academic mission of MIHS.
