There are two types of MDs. The first is a play back only MD. This type of MiniDisc is used for commercially available prerecorded music. Recording and editing functions are not possible. The second type of MiniDisc is a recordable MD. This is a blank disc on which recordings can be performed. They are available in 60 and 74 minute formats. Plus, recordings can be performed up to a million times.
