What kinds of mediums do transverse waves travel through?
Transverse waves can travel through any medium. For a wave to travel, it must make particles vibrate so this is why waves can travel through any medium, because there are always particles for it vibrate. They will travel at different speeds depending on the the medium. However, electromagnetic waves, which are transverse, can travel through a vacuum as well, this is because they vibrate tiny electric and magnetic fields instead of particles. Transverse waves are when the particles vibrate at right angles to the direction of travel. Longitudinal waves are when the particles vibrate in the same direction of the direction of travel.
