What kinds of jobs are available for geologists? Where do geologists work?
Geologists are hired to work in federal/state/county/local governments, education at the secondary and college levels, various private industries, in consulting, and investment firms (such as large banks), in a variety of capacities. They work in the following disciplines: energy and extractive mineral industries (oil and gas, coal, or other mineral resources); environmental geology; ground water or surface water; waste disposal; geomorphology; paleontology; marine geology; palentary sciences; analytical and computer applications; planning/engineering; and much, much more.
