Suppliers of construction materials and equipment, as well as construction subcontractors who require assistance in drafting shop drawings, also need employees who possess the skills developed in the program. Manufacturing firms that make construction components (for example, beams and trusses) and utility companies hire large numbers of people skilled in CAD work. City, county, state, and federal agencies employ CAD drafters to update and create records of public projects such as sewers and roadways.
