What kinds of help might APS offer?
The community services the APS worker can arrange vary depending upon the victim’s situation, local availability and the client’s financial eligibility to the service. Some services may include: · Advocacy with other agencies, · Adult Daycare (in some locations), · Arranging for a care provider, · Assistance applying to entitlement programs (MediCal, Social Security, SSI, Veteran’s), · Care provider payments (if eligible to In-Home Supportive Services), · Consumer fraud advocacy, · Counseling (for victim and/or abuser), · Emergency food, · Emergency shelter, · Heavy cleaning (if home is a health hazard), · Home delivered meals, · Home repair, · Legal assistance, · Medical care, · Placement assistance, · Rental assistance, · Replacement of nonfunctioning appliances, · Short term in-home protection, · Substance abuse treatment programs, · Transportation (limited by location), · Utility Assistance and, § Victim/witness services.
