What kinds of foods are best for kids in summer?
One of my favorite things about summer is the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. With this wonderful summer produce, getting kids to eat healthy seems a lot easier. My children love fresh strawberries in particular and my wife and I try to vary the presentation to keep my kids interested. One of their favorite strawberry concoctions involves mixing strawberries with vanilla yogurt and low-fat granola. This dessert has about half the fat of an ice cream milk shake and tastes great. As for veggies, fresh cucumbers and carrots are also favorite summertime snacks at my house. Extremely portable, I will pour some low fat ranch dressing in a bowl or Tupperware and let my boys dip their “snacks” to their hearts’ content.
