What kinds of courses are included in the HMS degrees?
In the first year students do a broad base of science courses, that cover biology, physics, psychology, anatomy and biochemistry, plus HMS courses. Second-year courses are basically in the core areas of HMS. Content covered in second year includes biomechanics, skill acquisition, socio-cultural aspects of physical activity, sport and exercise psychology, communication, and exercise physiology, together with second-level courses in physiology and in functional anatomy. This gives students and understanding of a broad range of areas within HMS. Students then undertake extensive fieldwork and specialised studies in their third and fourth years. Students with good grades in the four-year degrees may receive their degrees with Honours (at the end of the fourth year).
