What kinds of conditions do chiropractors treat and help with?
Doctors of chiropractic treat neuro-musculo-skeletal problems (nerve, muscle, bone) such as low back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, and pain involved after accidents. Chiropractic care is also very effective in the treatment of headaches, especially tension headaches. In children, chiropractic has proven to be very affective in treating ear infections (otitis media), as well as colic. Chiropractic doctors should not treat, cancers, bone infections, HIV, fractures, or any neurological active lesion (i.e. neuroblastoma) and should refer these cases to proper physicians. However, this does not mean if patients with these problems present with chiropractic problems also, that they cannot receive chiropractic treatment. Concurrent chiropractic care would bolster their nervous system and may give them an even better chance at successful treatment of the illness or injury.
