Most types of scientific, programmable, and graphing calculators can be used on the AP Chemistry Exam except those with typewriter-style (QWERTY) keyboards. Minicomputers; electronic writing pads or pen-input devices (Newton, Palm); pocket organizers; calculators that use paper tape, make noise, or “talk”; or ones that require an electrical outlet are also not allowed.
