What kinds of athletics and intramural programs are there?
UC Santa Cruz is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, competing in men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, and women’s cross country and golf. The Office of Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports (OPERS) sponsors recreation programs, including on-campus classes and off-campus cultural and adventure excursions. At UC Santa Cruz, you will have access to two fully equipped gymnasiums; sports fields; tennis, basketball, and racquetball/handball courts; dance and martial arts studios; weight-conditioning and activity rooms; sand volleyball courts; an Olympic-sized swimming pool; and a jogging track. The UC Santa Cruz boating facility is located at the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor, about five miles from campus.
