What kinds of animals does the platypus feed on?
The platypus feeds on small freshwater creatures such as grubs and larvae, crustaceans, worms, yabbies and aquatic insects. They have very fine, sensitive electroreceptors on their bills which can pick up tiny movements of these animals. They also use their bill to dig through the mud on the bottom of ponds and rivers for their food.
