What kinds of academic and advising support are provided?
There are several teaching assistants for the core science courses. Since class sections are small, faculty members are also available for consultation during their regular office hours. Chemistry faculty members offer topical review sessions each spring in the months prior to the MCAT. Academic advising and the planning of other aspects of your preparation for medical school is done via individual advising sessions with your faculty advisor. In addition, we currently have a weekly lunchtime speaker series which includes visits from medical school directors, physicians in various fields of medicine, health professionals in allied fields, and speakers on global health issues, as well as other group meetings during the year with a focus on various topics relating to application to medical school.
