What kind of work do missionaries do?
Missionaries fill many different roles in their work of cross-cultural ministry. The traditional missionary is sent out to do evangelism, to disciple those who believe, and hopefully, to plant growing churches, training and releasing national leaders who are eventually raised up to assume leadership and responsibility for the evangelism of their own people. Some missionaries focus on translation of the Bible and other materials into the heart language of the people; they are linguists. Many support personnel are needed such as secretaries, pilots, accountants, teachers, computer technicians and programmers, construction workers, administrators and others who support the work of those focused on full time ministry. Some missionaries work as tentmakers, or missionaries who live in another country and support themselves by working in a job. They carry out the responsibilities of their job, always looking for opportunities to share the love of Jesus and His message with those around. Tentm
