What Kind of Undercutting Protection Do Cyntax 8000 Series Coatings Provide?
• As mentioned above, Cyntax 8000 Series coatings are alkaline in nature and obtain adhesion through totally different mechanisms than conventional paints. Conventional paints obtain adhesion through hydroxyl, carboxyl, and epoxide groups. Because of these different adhesion systems, our 8000 Series coatings are not bothered by the ions generated during the corrosion process that normally cause undercutting. The high affinity of the resin for bare metal resists the formation of undercutting in areas where a film has been damaged, providing excellent undercutting protection. Cyntax 8000 Series coatings will not crack, peel or chip because, unlike conventional paint, no tight polymer network is formed.
