What kind of trees will be planted in Indonesia?
Indigenous trees will be planted, such as the following (definitions courtesy of World Wildlife Fund): • Jelutung (Dyera costulata): A species of tree in the oleander subfamily. Jelutong is used for its wood. These properties such as the low density, straight grain and fine texture mean it is easy to work with and hence popular with model makers and within the patternmaking trade. The roots are used as a cork substitute. • Belangiran (Shorea belangeran): This tree has been shown to be a promising tree breed that can restore degraded forest stands. • Pulai (Alstonia scholaris): The small flowers are very fragrant and in India the bark of the Pulai is used solely for medicinal purposes, ranging from Malaria and epilepsy to skin conditions and asthma.
