What kind of trees cant be by horses?
Many plants and trees are toxic for horses, many are safe. The safest way to plan is check with your county extension office and your veterinarian. They will know what kind of trees you need to remove. The wild cherry tree leaves are dangerous, when they are falling in autumn. I used to just take my horses off that section for the fall but have since cut them down (cherry is hard to find and expensive-you might be able to sell them). Rohdodendron and hemlock are aslo poisonous, get rid of them. And then there is the RED MAPLE! They shouldn’t even be near your turnout area. Black walnut shavings are very dangerous, most sawmills are aware of the danger to horses but if you’re just starting out, check with your sawdust supplier (if you can find one). There are reported cases of horses going lame just walking through black walnut orchards!!! It is an enzyme in the roots that causes the lameness.
