What kind of training is given to the Resident Assistants and the Residence Directors?

0

Residence Directors are full-time professional employees of the college. All are college graduates and most have master’s degrees. All RDs participate in a rigorous summertime training session prior to the start of the academic year. The training addresses judicial procedures, program planning, organizational skills, mediation, and management. Resident Directors, like all members of Geneseo’s professional staff, view their work as educational in nature. Even disciplinary hearings with students who violate the College’s Code of Conduct emphasize community values and constructive behavior rather than punitive action. Resident Assistants are competitively selected undergraduates who return to campus about a week before classes begin each term for their own training sessions. Their training continues all semester long through their credit-bearing RA class. RAs are instant resources and friends for students in the Residence Halls. They run floor meetings, organize events, and help students
