What kind of toothpaste is safe for children to swallow?
The reason it says “Do not swallow” is because of the fluoride. It is a toxin, so while I’m sure tons of children have swallowed, it’s still not a good thing to be doing, you know? But then, I’m not an expert, maybe the amount in toothpaste is comparable to the amount in water… but we don’t have warning labels on our water. There is fluoride-free toothpaste out there, try Toms of Maine ( http://www.tomsofmaine.com/toms/product.… ). They do sell regular toothpaste too, so make sure you get the Fluoride-free. It’s often on the bottom shelf in stores around here so look around. Maybe you could alternate it with the regular toothpaste to still get some fluoride. Call the dentist office, see what they say. Find out if you already have fluoride in your drinking water too, maybe you don’t need the fluoride toothpaste everyday (or maybe you still do!).
