What kind of things do i need for a ribbon snake?
All of the answers here so far have been great. I have two ribbon snakes myself and have found that they are quite easy to care for. 10 gallon tanks will work but 20 gallon tanks are better. I keep my two ribbons in a 20 gallon and they seem to have plenty of room. You will want to provide a temperature gradient for your snake. Your warm side should be between 82 and 87 degrees and your cool side should be around 72 – 77. Be sure to provide a hide on each side. When you ask about substrate you’re sure to get a ton of different answers. There’s no “right” substrate. You can use just about anything. Newspaper, aspen, top soil, cypress mulch, green/spanish moss and Eco Earth are all suitable substrates. Just remember to stay away from pine and cedar. Both can be toxic to your snake.
