What kind of test is done for hepatitis C?
The test is called a hepatitis C antibody test (anti-HCV). The results will be positive if you have ever been exposed to hepatitis C, even if your body has rid itself of the virus. Because the result will be positive, a second test is done to see if you actually have the virus. This is called an HCV RNA test, and it includes two tests. The first one confirms that you have the disease and the second one reveals the type and amount of the virus in your blood to see how well you will respond to treatment.
