There is a NWT Induction process for all new and beginning teachers. The pre-orientation stage involves sending out material regarding the teaching assignment, school information, and salary and benefits. Upon arrival in the region or community, there is an orientation session(s) for new staff. As of the 2001/2002 school year there is a formal mentoring program available in some areas. The GNWT has hired a Teacher Induction and Mentorship Coordinator to assist and advise new and beginning teachers.
