What Kind of Storage Controller and Hard Drives Does VelocityHD Require?
The optional SCSI-7000 storage daughtercard for VelocityHD provides dual SCSI channels for video storage. The SCSI-7000 provides the fastest pipeline directly into the Altitude hardware, and saves a valuable slot in the host system that would be required for a separate dedicated mass storage controller. For those wishing to use a different type of controller or networked storage, Velocity also provides the flexibility of using separate system storage controllers through the host system bus, though some restrictions apply. 10-bit uncompressed HD, dual-stream 8-bit uncompressed HD, and full SD performance require the SCSI-7000.
