What kind of specialized training does the medical team have?
AirCARE1™ medical crew members receive specific training beyond that normally available to critical care providers. The medical crew has specific knowledge of flight physiology and the impact flight stressors have on the patient. They are also trained to handle any inflight emergency, both related to those likely from the condition of the patient, and those that are completely unanticipated. See Medical Crew Training. Why is it important? Not every nurse or paramedic, even those with ER level experience, is suited to be a flight nurse. Many other air ambulance companies do not require customized training for specific aircraft, but rely on the training and skills the medical crew members receive on their own. AirCare1™ trains to internally developed standards.
